Joyful Moments

     I know, I am supposed to have Flavorful Friday today, but hear me out. Yesterday I went to sleep at 8:30! I guess first you should know that I never go to bed before 11, EVER. So the fact that I went to bed at 8:30 p.m. is evidence of just how exhausted I was yesterday. We had this fabulous dinner to cook, and I literally couldn't will myself to do it. But the good news is, today I woke up feeling refreshed and happy!
     So, instead I will be linking up with For the Love of Blogs and Joyful Jones for their feature, Joyful Moments

     The rules to this feature, is to post a picture that brings me joy and blog about why it makes me so happy. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!!!

{This brings me the biggest smile every time}
     This little trouble maker brings me joy every single day. I am seriously such a proud mamma. This was taken over Christmas vacation. I begrudgingly made an agreement to let Hudson to go to Nick's house over break, which means he wouldn't be with me for the holidays. Knowing how much I missed him, Nick and his sister took millions of pictures for me. When I saw this one, I just about died of laughter. It made me not having Nick or Hudson around to cuddle with a little bit easier.
{My two men}
{Seriously though. That Face. How could you not love that face?}
     If you know me at all, you know that I am a dog lover. For those of you reading this who actually do know me, I know what you are thinking. Dog Lover is an understatement. Alright, I admittedly state that I am obsessed with puppers, and if there is a dog in a 5 mile radius of me I WILL find it. And I don't mean for that to be as creepy as it sounds. If I could, I would have 10 dogs, but my boyfriend would probably kill me. For now I just have one little pupperoo, and he is the only one I need.
    There is one thing that makes me a little bit sad though, how much he has grown. I look back on his pictures when we first got him, and he was such a little munchkin! He has grown up so fast....I wish I could freeze time!!
{Little munchkin. :( Brings a tear to my eye.}

Awkward and Awesome

     The Daybook is one of my favorite blogs out there! Not only does Sydney have the best style, but she is absolutely hilarious. One of my favorite features on her blog is Awkward and Awesome Thursdays. I thought I would participate this week, because my life is full of awkwardness and awesomeness.

Awkward
  • I couldn't find a mug today, so I brought my coffee to work in a plastic glass.
  • We had leftovers from making Tacos. Unfortunately, I only like corn tortillas when they are fried, but I don't know how to fry them. Since Nick wasn't there to help I ended up just eating a bowl of just taco meat.
  • My left side of my hair never stays curled, but my right side always does. So today I am walking around looking like I only had time to curl one half of my head.
  • My white pants got all wrinkly and saggy yesterday. It looked like I was wearing pajamas to work...with heels?
  • Sweating as much as I did in front of Nick at our class at the gym. Sweating that much in general actually.
  • I wear glasses to work, and somehow they get smudged every 5 seconds. What is the point of even wearing glasses if I can never see?

Awesome

  • This was my second week taking this really tough class at the gym and I was not NEARLY as sore as I was last week. Here I come beach season!!
  • Skype Date with the besty Jenny! We are making it a weekly tradition....miss her dearly!
  • It is about 30 people's birthdays this week/weekend, and my girlfriends and I are having a massive celebration.
  • I am getting a new TV next weekend AND my hair cut. Double Rainbow!
  • I recently found a new show to watch on Netflix. Giuliana & Bill!! They are the cutest couple in the world. I love it.
  • Tomorrow is Friday. 'Nuff said.

White Winter Challenge!

     Let me just start by saying I was late to work today, and didn't get my morning coffee. I am now drinking a Coke (not even diet!) at 10:30 a.m. just for the fix. I think it is time for caffeine rehab. Moving on...
     When I read about Carrie's White Winter Challenge on This Free Bird, I signed right up! I guess its not entirely a challenge for me, because it is 70 degrees here in sunny California. But, I have been wanting to bust out these beautiful pants for the longest time.
    I will give you fair warning that I am sufficiently awkward, and have never done one of these solo daily outfit-type pictures. I didn't know how to pose. To smile or not to smile? Look at the camera or away? What do I normally do with my hands? So many questions! Here is the awkward finished project.

{T-shirt: Forever 21 Pants: Level 99 Jacket: Nordstrom}
I love these white jeans. They are actually too long for me. I plan on getting them hemmed and sporting them everyday of summer with some flip-flops and a flowey shirt. But, it actually worked out quite nicely that they were still long, because they are fitting in with the wide leg trend going on right now. Throw on some chunky heels, and they graze the floor just perfectly, making my legs look about 10 feet longer. I would say that I didn't hem my pants on purpose, but I am actually just really lazy and haven't gotten to the tailor yet.
{Let's not talk about the fact that my booty is HUGE. These white pants sure do accentuate it. Great.}
{Shoes: Steve Madden}
     This was my favorite picture because you get a peek at my gorgeous shoes. Also, I wish you could see my new blazer in a little more detail. I have been obsessed with this striped beauty for some time, and I finally gave in and bought it for myself. There are gold buttons on the front and sleeves, it has a grey jersey back, some super chic cut-outs, and of course it is striped. I love it!
     Excuse me for not smiling in any of these by the way. I usually love to smile, but I felt awkward standing by myself in a picture and smiling. Maybe next time.
     Thanks Carrie for putting this all together! I had fun mixing up my wardrobe a little bit, and I bet all the other people in actual cold weather are having quite an interesting time coming up with an outfit. If you want to check their outfits out head on over to their fabulous blogs. Here is a list of today's girls participating in the White Winter Challenge!

Boogie Feever!

   Another installment of Trendy Tuesday coming at ya! And good news! I am creating a page with buttons for all my features, so hopefully some of you will find them somewhat interesting and want to link up! That would be oh so exciting. Anyhoo, this week is all about one of my favorite eras, and a big trend in the fashion industry today:
The 70's!I Love the 70's

     Behold the wonderfulness of the 70's. So many beautiful things, so little time. What am I saying, I have all the time in the world right now.....which means I can take it all up gushing about my love for this trend!
Disco Fever!
  1. My favorite thing about this trend is the easiness of it all. 70's fashion wasn't about fuss, it was about an effortless glamour.
  2. I am loving the wide leg trend right now. Don't get me wrong, I love my skinny jeans and will never give them up, but this trend is so much more flattering on all kinds of body types. Make sure you hem them so they graze the floor, it creates a amazing long line. If they can make MY legs look long, then they can make anybody's legs look long!
  3. The pleated dress in the middle is to die for! A pleated column dress= insta-glamour. Believe it or not my mom had a dress JUST like this, and she allowed me to cut it to pieces and play dress-up in it when I was little. How depressing...
  4. I love the colors this era was filled with, especially dusty rose and champagne. They are just so dreamy...I mean gosh even the names of the colors are dream inspired.
  5. When in doubt about the trend, throw on a floppy hat and big sunglasses. It is a big nod to the era, without throwing on the bellbottoms.
There you have it, my take on the super hot 70's trend. If you haven't seen it all over your stores, trust me you will. No excuse me, because I have the urge to go disco boogie down. Boooogie Feeeever!

    Where it to work

         This isn't really a new feature, but just a fun thing I am going to do try to do every weekend. I will show you my outfit (kind of) for each day at work. A girl has gotta look fabulous 24/7 right?
         The catch is these are taken from my computer at work (don't worry, I get there 5 minutes early to take the pictures), so you only see my top, hair, and accessories. But those are the most important parts! I usually wear dark denim on bottom anyways, nothing to special!
    {Hat: Urban Outfitters Jacket: F21 (4 years ago) Glasses: Ray Ban}
    I love this crisp white jacket! It has silver button details, that you can't see because my massive amount of hair is in the way. This hat is my new obsession, can any of you guess why? The bow!! Duh! And yes, these are actual prescription glasses. I have horrible eyes....but they are cute right? Love the old school vintage frames!
    {Top: F21}
    I got this blouse for New Years Eve. I love the detailing on the shoulders. Also, this i one of those days where my bangs were not behaving, and thus must be pinned back to be taught a lesson.
    {Top: Charlotte Russe Bangel: NO idea Necklace: Urban Outfitters}
    I am loving this blouse. I don't have a lot of red in my closet, but this is adorable. It even has little hearts all over it! Perfect for Valentine's Day! My best friend Jenny got me the necklace for Christmas. It is a little owl, and on the package it came in it said "Owl always be there for you". Yeah, that is why she is my best friend. Also, I rock the side braid a lot. Sometimes my hair just too much to deal with, especially in the early hours of the day.
    {Top: }
    Haha! I really can't even bare to look at these pictures. I look SO AWKWARD! This blouse is beautiful. It has pretty embroidery on the front, and fabulous fringe on the flutter sleeves, which I was attempting to show off in these pictures. It is almost comical how awkward these are. I have nothing to say...I apologize.
     {T-shirt: Target Necklace: NO idea}
    I was loving my outfit this friday. I had a t-shirt tucked into my jeans with a skinny black braided belt. I added the gangsta chains to complete the outfit. I have no idea where this necklace is from, nor how I acquired it. If any of my friends are reading this and know the answer I would love to know. And best of all, my bangs behaved today!
         There you have it. My work week fashion! What was your favorite look?  I think mine was Monday!
    And if you say your is Thursday I know you will be joking. Hardy har har.

    Flavorful Friday

         Yes, that's right. Another new feature for my blog! Flavorful Friday! Who's excited???? Well, I am at least. You guys should be equally stoked, because it is bound to include hilariously awkward stories and pitfalls on my cooking adventures.
    This week's adventure? Tempura!!
         I am not sure if you knew this but my favorite types of food are as follow.
    1. Italian
    2. Mexican
    3. Sushi
        So it is obvious to say Nick and I go on lots of sushi dates. Last time we were out, I said to him "babe, you know what would be fun to cook? Tempura veggies!" And just like Inception, the idea was planted in my head. That week we went to go get tempura and chose lots of yummy vegetables to fry on up, along with some chicken. While picking out vegetables, I realized I don't know much about vegetables, and became depressed with my eating habits. (But that is a different story)
    We decided on Sweet potatoes, Squash, and carrots. Not only are they all yummy, but don't they photograph beautifully? Such a pretty and colorful meal!
         As I have mentioned before, Nick is kind of a whiz in the kitchen and takes any chance he can to show me up in his cooking skills. Which is usually fine with me, because whatever he makes is so delicious. So Nick started to fry the vegetables in one pan, and the chicken in the other....
    {Mmmmm. Chicken.}
         Then(of course), tragedy struck when Nick's tempura vegetables went awry. The dough started sliding off all the vegetables, and formed one massive tempura amoeba. I was instantly depressed, because if Nick couldn't accomplish this, then no one can. I was sad that our vegetables wouldn't be yummy and crispy...so I decided I would try again myself.
         And here is the really good news guys. I DID IT!!! All of my vegetables turned out perfectly!
    {Crispity goodness}
         After the first couple turned out perfectly, I started to do a happy dance around the kitchen! I did something right! I'm not a failure! I beat Nick!!!!! I am not sure if you comprehend how big of a thing this is for me, but if you have been reading I don't have the best of luck in the kitchen. This was truly a milestone.
         Everything turned out delicious, and fully edible. You guys should definitely try to make tempura at home sometime. And if you need some advice, I clearly am the expert. :) Yay me!

    Hi. I'm 5.

         Anyone who knows me knows that I am completely immature. I laugh at poop jokes (yes they are out ther, and yes they make me laugh), I notice things most grown-up people don't, and of course everyone says a naughty word in regular vocabulary (see: duty, seamen, etc.) I notice and giggle. I told you, I am a 5 year-old. If there is something immature to be pointed out, I will be the first to point it out.
         Oh yeah did I mention I love "that's what she said" jokes? I know, highly inappropriate, but oh so funny. Besides it isn't really me, it is the 5 year-old inside of me that makes me laugh.

        Another 5 year-old quality? I love Domo!!!! Have you seen him? He is the cutest thing in the whole wide world. Observe...
        Nick and I started our love for Domo together actually. There were advertisements all over San Diego for Domo at 7Eleven. We were quite perplexed. Who is this Domo character? We must research! After Google came to the rescue, we learned more about this little awkward guy and watched some Japanese videos of him. Funny stuff. Well, it could be just funny to us who knows? If you have a chance, Google "Domo", and enjoy the awkwardness. I even got Nick a Domo toy for Christmas. Awkward.
       Honestly, I think there is something to be said about being a little immature from time to time. We all have a little kid inside of us, who we surpress with work and school and adult-like stuff. I say, embrace your inner child, and let loose a little bit. Watch cartoons, play with bubbles, giggle at silly jokes! Let it all go and goof around a little bit!
    {My inner child. Doesn't she look fun?}

    It's Wednesday...

    ....you know what that means!

         But alas, I don't have much to report right now. No ramblings for my Hump Day Ramblings? It can't be so! What is a girl to do? Sit and ponder life like so? I know I can find something to ramble on about....
         P.S. Do you love the hat? I do! My mommy got it for me for Christmas. I love hats because they are a cute way of telling the world "Hi. I didn't feel like doing my hair today". Which coincides perfectly with my lack of desire to tame my wild tresses on the regular.
        Also, I know I just posted about him, but I just love him so. Do you guys want to smile? Are you sure? If you don't....well I don't care I am going to make you smile whether you like it or not!
    {If you don't want to smile, look directly away from the computer at this time}
         Now that is one cute pupperoo don't you think? I apologize for talking about him so much, but he is my love...I'm a proud mamma! Moving on...
         Speaking of momma's, I miss mine but I think I will be seeing her oh so soon. (Fingers crossed) If you were to ask anyone in my family, they would say my mother and I are exactly alike. Hence, why we bicker all the time. But it is all out of love, and I love her dearly. I call her everyday to chat.
         Here is about the time where I would show you a picture of my beautiful mother, but she hates taking pictures. A picture of her is very elusive, and some believe it doesn't exist. I think it goes for a very high price on the black market, but that's just the word on the street.
         Ah hah! There she is! Can't get out of taking the family pic mom! Gotcha! See, I told you she was beautiful! And she is craft and smart, and loves her puzzles. In fact, every Christmas she holds an annual puzzle of how we will fit all the Christmas presents in the trunk of the car, to transport them to my grandparents house.
    {Exhibit A: Plethora of Presents}
    {Exhibit B: The dreaded Trunk}
         Every year we all doubt here extreme puzzle-solving skills, and every year she is determined to prove us all wrong. Literally. We gather around and watch her pack in all the presents, and refuse help from the rest of us. It is her own personal challenge, her Christmas Olympics.
    {I call this one, "Doubtful Onlooker"}
         I don't know why I don't have a picture of the finished project, but she did accomplish the feat. All the presents got in the car and we had an amazing Christmas with the family. Leave it to mom to find a way to make something as dull as packing presents into a yearly tradition. Love her!
         Speaking of presents, and mommas, did I tell you what I got for the little bambino on the way?
    {Best. Auntie. Ever.}
         Well look at that, I found plenty of stuff to ramble about! Mission accomplished!

    Trendy Tuesdays

    Trendy Tuesday Volume Two! Are you guys excited? I am! Mostly because I get to write about fashion, and what is not exciting about that? I guess the only downside is that I am left wanting to buy everything that I write about. But, a girl can dream. And if I am going to dream, why not dream in the beautiful color that inspired my Trendy Tuesday this week: Coral!
                Coral Love
    Everyone just take a second to look at the beautiful coral items, and smile. Have you done that? Okay good, moving on...
    Coral Love
    1. Those shoes in the center. I die.
    2. I think Coral looks good on absolutely everyone. Blonde or brunette, tan or fair, you can work it!
    3. This color is perfect for the summer months! It exudes warmth and happiness.
    4. I love the combination of Coral and Turquoise. They compliment each other beautifully.
    5. A coral accessory is the perfect pop of color! I suggest coral pumps or a clutch paired with a little black dress. Perfection.

    So there you have it. My favorite color of the moment. But seriously guys, did you see those shoes? If anyone wants to purchase them for me, I would be more than happy to accept them. Just an idea. :)
