Hello Stranger!

     Hi guys! I'm not sure if you remember me, but my name is Kai. I am the sole contributer to this little blog, and I have sadly left it abandoned for the last week. I do apologize to all of you who might have missed me, even the tiniest bit. I was sick all last week (still am a little bit), an my brain could literally not function enough to write, let alone come up with something to post. But don't you worry! I am back, and better than ever!
     Okay, I don't know about that better than ever part, but I am back. Since I hadn't done it in a while, I thought I would feature another Wear it to Work post today! My momma also thinks I am slacking in the writing part of my posts, and she wants to read more of what I have to say! So this one is for you momma, I tried to write as much as I could! lol! We have been in the process of moving offices, so excuse the out-of-orderness and the change of scenery.
{Romper: F21 Scarf: Vintage}
Did I mention how much I love my sea salt spray? It is the perfect excuse to never do my hair ever again. I do love to straighten, yet avoid it at all costs. ANYHOO. I always am so jealous when I see people's fashion posts, and they write that their outfits were "thrifted" or "vintage". But today I can be one of those people! This is my mom's scarf from the 70's and I am OBSESSED with it. It is so big and beautiful, you can literally wear it 30948769483279 different ways.
New office. This is when I started to feel sick, hence putting little effort in both my outfit and my hair. Well thats not true, i did put a bit of effort into my hair. I am always excited to try new hairdo's that don't require me straightening my whole coif. This bun was done using Sydney's tutorial over here. I really love the high bun. So high in fact I had to do a bit of a lean to get it all in the picture. But it is easy to do, and adds a little glamour to any look!
{Denim Shirt: F21 Necklace: F21}
I got to work from home on Wednesday, because I was miserable and sick. But I came in the next day inspired by some clothes I had just gotten in the mail! Let me just start by saying I LOVE FOREVER 21! Anyways, I had been searching for a denim shirt that was affordable (because lets face it, they probably won't be in style forever), and found this one on the Forever 21 website. I actually loved my whole outfit, I wore this denim shirt, paired with that fab neclace, and RED (yes red) skinny capris. And where was my ENTIRE outfit from? You guessed it, Forever 21!
{Sweater: LA Made Glasses: Ray Ban Scarf: F21}
It's so weird how my hair is not actually done in any of these pictures? I supposed its a good thing that the messy and effortless look is in now. (it is in style right?) So I don't know if you have guessed, but I love scarfs, I think they add amazing touches to any outfit. And I am also excited that they are showing a lot more light weight scarves in stores, that are more acceptable to wear during the summer. i think I would die if I had to give up my favorite accessory because it was warm outside! Anyways, Sydney (yes I am obsessed with her blog, The Daybook), did a scarf tutorial here, and taught be how to tie this little beauty you see above! P.S I didn't even mention how much I love this sweater, which I DO!
     So there you have it. A recap of my work fashion for the last couple weeks. If you guys have any cool hair demos, or suggestions, I would love to hear/try them! And stay tunned for me being a better blogger this week!

Awkward AND Awesome!

Awkward AND Awesome (All in One this week):
     So, two weekends ago, while in Moorpoark visiting Nick's family, I had the brilliant idea to take "Family Photos". I know we aren't an official family yet, but Nick, Hudson, and I are what I consider my own little family. Don't get me wrong (mommy), I love my actual family more than words! But Nick and I are creating our own life together and that is exciting too!
     So these pictures. I had it envisioned in my head. Nick and I dressed nicely, holding Hudson and smiling proudly. Easy right? Apparently not so much. Here is what developed.
{No I swear my boyfriend is not conspiring to kill our dog}
{My face is filled with pure awkwardness. How is one to react to whatever is going on to my right?}
 {I have basically given up at this point.}
 {Nick got his act together, and Hudson decides to slack off. Seriously guys?}
{I swear my dog was not drunk in this picture!}
{Mission Accomplished.}
    I have learned a few things from this experience. The two men in my life are IMPOSSIBLE to take pictures with! Nick feels the need to make every picture as awkward as possible, and Hudson well he is just his own little interesting self. Together, they produce what you just saw above. At least we got one solid picture out of the whole debacle....

I love my Awesome AND Awkward Family :)

I Love Roadtrips

{The view of the Mountains on the way back from Bakersfield}
     I have a confession. I love Roadtrips! But you know what I recently discovered that I love even more? Roadtrips with the person you love. I never minded driving for hours by myself, but I never realized what I was missing out on. Nick is a great travel buddy, and it is just another reason why I love him so much.
{Such a cutie. I die.}
Fun With Nick and Kai: Favorite Things About Road-Trippin'
- Nick holding my hand the whole entire time.
- Blaring music and rapping entire song verses together. Yes, I said RAP. Ludacris, anyone?
- Discovering the endless amount of voices Nick can produce. I swear he should do voiceover work.
- Wanting Carls Jr. only to find one right as we were passing by its exist. Which happened FIVE times!
- Nick always finding a way to make me laugh. Always.
- Letting me ninja death grip his leg while driving in the rain because I am terrified.
- Sharing stories about both of our hometowns, and our favorite places to go.
- Ending the trip with this song (won't you sing and dance along with me?)
- This progression of how uneblievably awkward Hudson is. Does this look comfortable to you?
     I am so lucky to have Nick to share experiences with! He makes everything so much better. I can't wait for all of our roadtrips throughout our life together. Our little awkward family (Nick, Hudson, and I) makes me happy every day, and I am so excited to see where each day takes us.  Speaking of awkward, are you guys excited to see our awkward family photos tomorrow? I know I am!

Shower Power

     This weekend we celebrated Shea and Sarah's beautiful baby boy on the way with a baby shower in my hometown of Bakersfield, CA. Nick and I went up a day early so we could enjoy extra time with the family. I worked from home on Friday, and then Saturday was the day of the shower!
{Daddy and Mommy-to-be}
    Seriously though. Somebody try and say they aren't the cutest couple in the world, I dare you! They are just so adorable, and I know their little boy will be the cutest ever. I am so excited to be Auntie Kai or Tia(in Spanish), pick your poison. Anyways, what is the best part of a baby shower? Presents, duh!
{Their first gift of the day!}
{I don't think there was ever a more appropriate onesie.}
    They were just showered with all kinds of gifts. (Ahhh so THAT'S why its called a baby shower!)  I for one had no idea how many things a little bambino needs. I mean, he is so small, I wouldn't think that he would use all this stuff. Nick and I got him a Bassinet! And he also got lots of cute clothes, and a new car seat. This little boy is going to be rolling in style!
     Then, the blogger in me forced everyone to go into the backyard to take pictures. Not for any other purpose, than I wanted to post them on my blog. Isn't that weird how your brain changes once you start blogging? I take my camera everywhere, because I always think oh that would be so cute for my blog! I guess I am a woman possessed, but it at least forced everyone to capture moments they wouldn't normally think of.
{The grandparents!}
{Daddy and Mamacita! Which one do I look like?}
{My handsome man}
     Did I mention the food!?!?! It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! We had some local flavor from a restaurant called Jakes Tex Mex. If you ever happen to go to Bakersfield, please stop there. You will NOT regret it. Then, besides the wonderful Desert Bar shown here, we also had a cake all the way from San Diego! Nothing Bundt Cakes is all kinds of amazing, I could eat the frosting all by itself.
    All in all it was a great shower, with great family and friends. My mom did an amazing job of putting it all together, and deserves major props! Now this little boy needs to get here so he can enjoy all of his loot!

Party by Pictures

     I thought I would show you a teaser of the fabulous weekend we had through some detail pictures. I love trying to capture the smallest details of parties, because those are my favorite parts. Could you just DIE over these decorations? My Momma planned the whole thing, and did an amazing job! The way she puts things together, and has an eye for decorations and color palettes is inspiring. She is available for party planning, but only if you live in or around Bakersfield, which probably narrows the field a bit.
    I am going to go completely of the schedule, and mix it up in my blog this week. Here is what to look forward to!
- Tuesday- Recap of Shea and Sarah's Baby Shower!
- Wednesday-I Love Roadtrips
- Thursday- Awkward and Awesome Family Photos
-Friday- Vintage Baby Mercado's

Home is Where the Heart Is

We have arrived! And when I say we, I mean Nick, Hudson and I! The whole family is here in full effect. We packed up our car and traveled the four hours to good ole' Bakersfield, CA. Have you ever been here before? This is where I grew up, in the same house, my whole life. This is my home.
I am excited to be here to celebrate Shea and Sarah's Baby Shower. I am also equally stoked to take a cue from this guy....
{sleepy head}
Nick and I will be posting up on the couch today while I work from home. Lots of snuggling by the fireplace. Surene, peaceful, and just altogether lovely.
{My nook. Right there on his shoulder}
{Doesn't Nick have the prettiest colored eyes?}
So excuse me while I have a nice relaxing weekend with amazing family and great friends (and cute puppies too!). You will hear all about our stories, don't you worry.

P.S. I can't wait to show you pictures from Moorpark too! Seriously though, our family portrait with Hudson was just ridiculous. It should be submitted to an awkward picture website or something...do they have those?
